How much is the Disability Support Pension in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, the Disability Support Pension is $1,208.80 per fortnight for a single person aged 21 or over (including Pension Supplement and Energy Supplement). Partnered recipients receive $913.30 each per fortnight. Under 21 rates are $604.50 (at home) or $835.10 (away from home) per fortnight.

How much can I earn on DSP before my payment is reduced?

Singles can earn up to $204 per fortnight before their DSP is reduced. Above that, it reduces by 50 cents for every dollar earned. Couples have a combined income free area of $360 per fortnight, with each partner's payment reducing by 25 cents per dollar above the threshold.

Who is eligible for the Disability Support Pension?

To qualify for DSP, you must have a physical, intellectual, or psychiatric condition that is fully diagnosed, treated, and stabilised, and prevents you from working 15 or more hours per week at or above the relevant minimum wage within the next 2 years. You must be aged 16 or over and under Age Pension age, be an Australian resident, and meet income and assets tests.

What is the asset test for DSP?

The DSP asset test is the same as the Age Pension. From 20 March 2026, single homeowners can have up to $314,000 in assets. Single non-homeowners can have up to $566,000. Couple homeowners can have $470,000 combined, and couple non-homeowners $722,000. Above these thresholds, your payment reduces by $3 per fortnight for every $1,000 in excess assets.
