How much is Austudy in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, Austudy is $762.70 per fortnight for a single person with no children. Single recipients with children receive $816.90 per fortnight. Partnered recipients receive $693.10 per fortnight. These are base rates before adding the Energy Supplement.

How much can I earn on Austudy before my payment is reduced?

You can earn up to $150 per fortnight before your Austudy is reduced. Between $150 and $256 your payment reduces by 50 cents for every dollar earned. Above $256 it reduces by 60 cents per dollar. The Student Income Bank lets you accumulate up to $12,000 in unused income credits.

Who is eligible for Austudy?

Austudy is for Australian residents aged 25 or older who are studying full-time or doing a full-time Australian Apprenticeship. If you are under 25, you should apply for Youth Allowance instead. You must meet income and assets tests and be enrolled in an approved course.

What is the Student Income Bank?

The Student Income Bank lets you save up unused income credits during periods when you earn less than the $150 fortnightly free area. You can accumulate up to $12,000 in credits. These credits are used to offset income in higher-earning fortnights, allowing you to earn more without reducing your payment.
